PROJECT NOTE

Beauty Studies reduces the frame until small differences matter. Skin, eye line, wet hair, lace, gloves and jewellery become the landscape of the picture. The portraits move from polished symmetry to softer side profiles and more graphic styling, but the camera remains close throughout. There is little room for distraction, so expression and texture carry the sequence. The series is a study in control at short distance: light, makeup and gesture measured within a few inches of the face.
